Food Marathon

Food marathon is a technology that helps us provide people in need with basic food and products since 2015, at the same time developing a culture of volunteerism and product charity.

You can donate food and basic necessities “at the checkout”, while shopping at your neighborhood store. We have also installed boxes for collecting food and basic necessities in some cities and stores. Volunteers form kits from all the food and products collected during the marathon or in boxes to later deliver them to people in need.

People buy food and products in a store, after which they either
  • hand them over to food bank representatives, NPO partner representatives, or volunteers at the checkout counter
  • put in special boxes.

How the kits are formed

The kits are always different and depend on the goal of the marathon. We accept only the categories of basic necessities and food that will be most beneficial to people in need.

We accept
non-perishable food: cereals, flour, oil, canned vegetables and fish, sweets, tea, baby cereals in cardboard boxes.
We do not accept
perishable foods, cigarettes, tobacco and smoking accessories, as well as alcohol.

We collect not only food, but also home care products, personal hygiene products, and animal feed.

We have different types of marathons

We hold marathons that vary in duration and scale in partnership with X5 Retail Group stores (Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, Karusel), Dixie, Bars, and Molniya–SPAR. The marathon can be held locally in three to five stores or cover thousands of retail outlets in multiple regions.

“Basket of Kindness” with X5 Retail Group

This is our first and largest food marathon to help families in difficult situations and animals in shelters, launched back in 2015.

You can find out details about the project on корзинадоброты.рф.

“Food to Help” with Dixie

This collaborative food marathon became part of the chain’s social program “Concerned Neighbors” in 2018.

We installed our first food collection boxes in Dixie stores and offices as part of this project.

The marathon is unique because it’s convenient

We truly believe that a food marathon is one of the most convenient forms of charity. There are three reasons for this.

img
You don’t need to devote special time for good deeds in your busy schedule.
You can come get groceries for your family and buy groceries for those in need at the same time.
img
You don’t need to go to an unfamiliar place halfway across the city to deliver your help.
You can donate food and products at your local store or online.
img
You can give a volunteer any basic necessity at a comfortable price.
Even a pack of buckwheat or tea will make the life of a needy family better.
