Yulia Nazarova, President of the Charity Foundation Foodbank Rus, and Igor Artamonov, Governor of the Lipetsk region, met to discuss the results of the food bank’s three-year work in the region. The vector for further cooperation was determined during the meeting.
The regional branch of Foodbank Rus had been opened in Lipetsk in 2020 with the support of the local government. An agreement on cooperation in charitable activities was later signed between them. The regional branch distributes food through a warehouse based on the municipal premises in Yelets from its very first days.
Due to the assistance of the governor and relevant authorities, the Lipetsk region entered the top 10 by social effect of food sharing. The fund’s new initiative in 2022, agrifood sharing, was also approved by the government, namely by Igor Kremnev, the Deputy Head of the Administration of the Lipetsk region. Such cooperation helps the fund efficiently work with local businesses and grow in infrastructure due to the involvement of social welfare centers.
Foodbank Rus has donated over 500 tons of food and basic necessities worth 124 mln rubles to Lipetsk charity recipients over the past three years. Thousands of families were able to spend less on food and more on other important needs.
Yulia Nazarova noted that the potential of food bank technologies to provide food aid in the Lipetsk region was even higher, but infrastructure expansion was required for this. Igor Artamonov emphasized that the regional authorities would continue to promote the development of Foodbank Rus initiatives.
Yulia Nazarova, President of the Charity Foundation Foodbank Rus: “We are already distributing food in 18 municipalities and two urban settlements of the region due to close cooperation with social welfare centers and the Lipetsk diocese. We strive to provide aid even in the most remote territories of the region. For this, we are going to open additional distribution centers, expand the network of distribution points, and interact with local businesses more closely.”
Igor Artamonov, Governor of the Lipetsk region: “We support charity activities in the region and are ready to provide any support we can, including finding necessary premises and arranging events aimed at developing food aid,” emphasized Igor Artamanov, Governor of the Lipetsk region.
