On November 30, 2019, a large-scale, socially significant action will take place in Moscow—the citywide food marathon "Basket of Kindness" was created to collect food aid for single retirees. On this day, volunteers of the Charity Foundation Foodbank Rus together with university students, school students and activists of capital public organizations will collect long-term products in all "Pyaterochka" stores in Moscow within the Moscow Ring Road. According to the results of the action, seven thousand retirees in need living in villages and small towns of Moscow, Vladimir, Kaluga, Bryansk, Tver, Tula, Oryol, Voronezh, Smolensk, Yaroslavl, Ryazan and Lipetsk regions will receive aid.
On the day of the action, everyone will be able to purchase non-perishable products in the nearest "Pyaterochka" store inside the Moscow Ring Road and transfer them to the volunteers of the Foodbank Rus. Donations will be collected from 10:00 to 18:00, then the collected products will be delivered to a warehouse where volunteers will form food packages for delivering it to single aged.
We have been conducting food marathons for more than a year and should note that the effectiveness and social significance of the Basket of Kindness campaign are obvious. On the one hand, pensioners who choose between buying food and buying medicines, they receive the necessary help, on the other hand, residents of the city can realize their want to benefit those in need without leaving the cash desk in the store, which is very convenient and easy. The society believes in such charity in kind and willingly participates in such events.
